Dear Parents and Pupils,

We hope that you all had a great Summer break and are looking
foward to starting the Autumn term at the Dance Academy.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE JOANNE SIMMONS ACADEMY OF DANCE!

As from the Autumn Term 2014, I have decided to take a 'step back' from teaching and I would like to introduce and extend a very warm welcome to Miss Emma Townley who will be stepping into my shoes as principal of the school from this September........

About Emma Townley RAD RTS

Emma presently has her own successful school in Calne and Marlborough called 'Dance4Life' and it is perceived that 'JSAD Dance' will eventually also become known as 'Dance4Life' in the future.

Info on Dance4Life;

Dance4Life's principles - Dance4Life loves to share and inspire enjoyment of dance and dancing to music. The school currently holds a range of classes in Marlborough and Calne and works in an open and co-operative manner with its students, fostering and respecting their independence. It is one of Dance4Life’s main priorities to always try to recognise and respect the uniqueness, dignity and potential of every student. It is also seen as very important to always try to encourage each student to achieve the best of their ability in a positive, supportive and structured way. (www.Dance4Life.org.uk)

Emma Townley RAD RTS is an experienced, enthusiastic teacher who is dedicated to motivating her students to the best of their ability. Emma has a good understanding of dance as she has loved dancing since starting ballet aged three. Emma then went on to study Jazz and Modern dance and achieved advanced levels in all of these dance subjects. After completing her A levels (including dance) Emma auditioned for several dance schools and accepted an offer into the Northern Ballet School. Emma started their three year performer’s course (which consisted of studying Jazz dance, Modern dance, Contemporary dance, Ballet, Singing, Body Conditioning and Tap dance) after travelling Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore for four months. After realising that she truly wanted to pass on her passion and skills to others by teaching dance, she enrolled on the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies Course at the Royal Academy of Dance in London and graduated in November 2010.To offer a fully comprehensive service, especially for those who simply want to gain good health and fitness through their hobby, Emma qualified as a Zumba Fitness instructor in December 2012.During her career Emma has benefited from experiencing many teaching styles and methods enabling her to recognise what works well with different students.

CHANGES TO LYDEWAY AND SHREWTON BRANCHES

We have decided to move the Lydeway and Shrewton classes to join the classes at a Great Cheverell from September so that the classes are combined 'under one roof' as it is not financially viable for the future of the school to continue to hold classes at Lydeway or Shrewton.
The Great Cheverell branch will run on Tuesday afternoons and
evenings.
The Westbury branch will continue to run on Fridays at Leigh Park Community Centre and Miss Joanne will run the classes at present.

Emma will bring her enthusiasm, experience and dedication to teaching to JSAD Dance pupils and we are sure that she will enable the school to continue to expand and develop towards  becoming a centre of excellence in dance training of the future.

NEW TIMETABLES - We are working on new timetables at present and these will be sent out/posted on the JSAD Dance and Dance4Life websites shortly.  Most classe times will remain the same at Great Cheverell with just a few adjustments to ensure we accommodate everyone in the appropriate classes.

RAD CHILDREN'S EXAMS - These are still scheduled to go ahead this term.

I would like to thank everyone for the support that you have given me in setting up the dance school over the past 18 months and to wish Emma the best of luck for the future of the school.
Keep dancing everyone!
Best wishes,

Miss Joanne RAD RTS AISTD
